The Durban University of Technology (DUT) continues to strengthen its global academic footprint through international research collaboration, with two scholars from the DUT Business School currently participating in an exchange visit to Germany.
DUT Postdoctoral researcher, Dr Wiseman Ndlangamandla and PhD candidate, Mr Thembinkosi Peter Kalanga, are visiting Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University, where they are engaging with international academics and postgraduate researchers to enhance their research skills and broaden their scholarly perspectives. The scholar exchange programme is being facilitated by Professor Thomas Dobbelstein, who is an Honorary Research Professor and Chairperson of the DUT Business School. Professor Dobbelstein stands at the intersection of global insight and local impact. He is based at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Ravensburg, Germany.
“It is deeply gratifying to witness the motivation and intellectual curiosity of the emerging researchers from our partner institution, the Durban University of Technology. This exchange has also been highly enriching for our own academic staff,” said Professor Dobbelstein, who expressed great enthusiasm for the visit.
The exchange programme aims to deepen academic collaboration, promote research excellence and support global knowledge exchange. During their stay, the DUT scholars will be exposed to international research methodologies, collaborative practices and scholarly networks that directly support their respective research focus areas, while contributing to long-term institutional partnerships between DUT and its German counterpart.
Mr Kalanga, a Lecturer and Teaching & Learning Development Practitioner in the Faculty of Management Sciences, is currently pursuing his PhD in Business Administration, with research focusing on youth perceptions of municipal support for entrepreneurship development.
Dr Ndlangamandla is a Postdoctoral Researcher at DUT with extensive experience in research, academic teaching and government. His research interests include public governance, local economic development, entrepreneurship, business management and community development.
Beyond their academic commitments, the visiting scholars are also experiencing Germany’s traditional pre-Christmas season, allowing for valuable cultural exchange alongside their research engagement. The visit reflects DUT’s ongoing commitment to global engagement, research development and meaningful international partnerships.
