DUT Hosts Richard Maponya Provincial Annual Lecture

The Durban University of Technology will host the Richard Maponya Provincial Annual Lecture, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday, 9 May 2016.

The Lecture will be held at the Ritson Exam Hall, DUT Ritson Campus, between 6 & 9pm.

Professor Thandwa Mthembu, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the Central University of Technology, will deliver the keynote address. Prof Mthembu’s previous positions include Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) at the then University of Durban Westville (now UKZN) and DVC at WITS University. Prof Mthembu holds a PhD in Mathematics but has diversified his scholarly interests over the last 21 years to include higher education governance and management, social transformation, public intellectualism and entrepreneurship and innovation. He has contributed book chapters and has written and published in journals, newspapers and magazines.

Prof Mthembu is the immediate past Chair of the South African Technology Network (SATN) and has chaired several ministerial task teams/committees. He is the regional Chair (Southern Africa) of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP).

His recent sabbatical leave focused on entrepreneurship and innovation on which he has written a chapter in a book titled:Strategies for University Management (2016).
