DUT HOSTS SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL EMPLOYEE WELLNESS DAY

“Catch the Wellness Wave” was this year’s theme for the Annual Employee Wellness Day, held at the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Fred Crookes Sports Centre on Thursday, 28 March 2019.

Manager of the Employee Assistant Programme (EAP) Samantha Rajcoomar, stated the importance of all staff to participate in such wellness programmes. “It is important for staff to attend so that they understand the status of their health. Staff came in numbers to find out and know if they are at risk for any chronic diseases or illnesses. They (staff) also need to be very healthy and take care of their well-being,” she stressed.

Service providers present at the event were the DUT Department of Chiropractic and Somatology, Sizwe Medical Fund and the Department of Homoeopathy, to name but a few.

Rajcoomar further emphasised that the event would not have been possible without forging partnerships with the various stakeholders.

One of the DUT staff participants, Dr Nalini Govindasamy from the Public Relations Department (academic), said that she believes that the event was well – organised and she was happy to see so many people attending the event. She also added that there were numerous departments with information that employees could benefit from.
