DUT Hosts the Golden Key New Member Recognition Awards

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted the new member Recognition Awards at the Ritson Campus Hotel School on Saturday 12 October 2019.

Golden Key is an internationally recognised, non-profit organisation affiliated with over 400 universities throughout Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa. It also recognises academic excellence and provides tangible value to its members, advisors and partners while positively impacting their lives and society. Nokuthula Mavela, president of the Golden Key, welcomed all new members, congratulating everyone for their outstanding work and efforts that they have put into the way they are in today’s society.

“Our chapter was established in 2014 and we welcome you into our society. I hope that you will share our goals of recognising academic achievement, promoting leadership and serving our community. The South African office has worked with our chapter to maintain the standards of the society and mission of Golden Key,” she said.

Dr Elmie Castleman, who is the Regional Director of Golden Key, also welcomed the new members of Golden Key. “I would like to formally congratulate you as the new Golden Key members. Your dedication is recognised as part of the 15% of achievers at your University. I wanted to put this in context that 5% of the youth of South Africa will have the opportunity of being Golden Key members,” she stressed.

“You will join a global network of 2.4 million Golden Key members from approximately 400 hundred universities globally. Your life-time membership gives you access to varies opportunities, namely sponsorships, networking, skills, research and community services,” she added.
