DUT IEP HOSTED THE 2024 INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE STUDENTS’ ORIENTATION

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) International Education and Partnerships (IEP) unit hosted the official 2024 International Exchange Students’ orientation at ML Sultan campus on Wednesday, 7 February 2024.

The purpose of the orientation was to integrate new international students into the university community. The programme director of the event was Carol Newman, the international education officer.

In his welcome, Dr Lavern Samuels, Director of International Education and Partnership, congratulated the new students who made it to DUT from the different parts of the world. He also shared that students who wanted to continue studying for their Masters are more than welcome to apply and that it would be a wonderful experience. “I hope that this experience will enrich you academically and have an intercultural experience. Experience Durban, South Africa for all it has to offer as there is tremendous richness in this country,” said Dr Samuels. He further added that he wishes them all well.

Presentations were made by representatives from different units including the library, student health, student counselling, sports department, campus safety: protection services and a medical aid representative.  These presentations outlined the importance of each department and how to access their services.

Carol Newman, then closed the function and thanked everyone who attended and those who had assisted in the planning and ensured that the event was a great success.

A delicious lunch was served while the new students interacted with the DUT IEP staff.
