Durban University of Technology (DUT) is guided by the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework, which comprises five core values: transparency, honesty, integrity, respect, and accountability. These values are underpinned by the principles of fairness, professionalism, commitment, compassion, and excellence. DUT CSE Marketing Officer Snelisiwe Hlongwane recently engaged with Sphokuhle Hlophe, an Administrative Officer at the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship (CSE), to gain insight into the Living Values Framework and its alignment with ENVISION2030.
Q: Please tell us about your role at DUT?
A: “I work as an Administrative Officer at the CSE, where I support administrative operations, coordinate meetings and events, and assist with alumni and community initiatives.”
Q: How long have you been a member of the DUT family?
A: “I joined DUT in 2019 as an intern at the CSE.”
Q: Amongst the ENVISION2030 Living Values and Principles, which one do you mostly associate with and why?
A: “I identify most strongly with integrity because it reflects who I am both personally and professionally. It means being accountable for my actions, standing by my values, and treating others with fairness and respect. Integrity builds trust, which is essential in any environment. By being honest and transparent in my interactions, I aim to create meaningful relationships and contribute positively to the spaces I am part of.”

A: “The tagline reflects DUT’s commitment to innovation, uniqueness, and making a meaningful impact in society.”

A: “By attending workshops, following institutional communications, and applying the values in my daily work.”
Q: What is the one thing that most people do not know about you?
A: “I have a strong spiritual connection with God, which guides my decisions and keeps me grounded.”

A: “It will strengthen the institutional culture and promote unity within the DUT community.”

A: “I enjoy spending time with family and friends.”
