DUT MIDLANDS CAMPUS DIRECTOR: DR JOE MOLETE HOSTS THE TALENT INCUBATION AND COACHING PROGRAMME

DUT MIDLANDS CAMPUS DIRECTOR: DR JOE MOLETE HOSTS THE TALENT INCUBATION AND COACHING PROGRAMME

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Midlands Campus Director: Dr Joe Molete recently hosted a face-to-face Talent Incubation and Coaching programme session themed “Developing High Impact Leaders” at Riverside Campus.

The programme was attended by the DUT staff and students both from Durban and Midlands campuses. Most of the attendees when highlighting their aim and expectations for attending the programme mentioned that they want to gain more knowledge and skills about personal mastery and development, entrepreneurship, become better leaders and use the platform to share their experiences and learn from other people.

The aim of the session was to educate the attendees on how to become leaders in the best way possible, ensuring individual growth whilst making a difference in the lives of others.

During his introduction, Dr Joe spoke about the “The Johari Window Method” and explained that it describes coaching as a method to build relationships.

“As a coach, it is important to spend more time in building mutual trust and respect with clients. It is also about understanding the person coached in their own context,” he said.

In his presentation, he expressed that a person should be influenced in three different states. The past which is influenced by pain bodies, the present which is awareness of everything happening to you in real-time and the future which is the vision and end goal of all your efforts.

Furthermore, he explained the five levels of healing which includes the spirit body, which is the connection with the higher power each individual believes in that might be in the forms of meditating, prayer or “ukuphahla”, the intuitive body which are the recognition of sound, colour, systematic and family connections, the mental body which are thoughts, beliefs and attitudes. the energy body which is an interference of the bio-electric field and the physical body where one has control over one’s diet, exercise and medication.

He went on to elaborate that to increase one’s state of awareness in the present, a person should develop and balance the seven different areas of life.

“It is very crucial to master the physical health and wellness, financial prosperity, social contribution, career/business, mental learning, family/ relationships and spiritual connections as they play a huge role on the outcome of the coaching programme,” he stated.

The last part of Dr Molete’s presentation consisted of a summary of his own personal success model which has impacted many people’s lives and businesses. The model consists of nine courses which develop larger after each course. The first four, emphasise on personal leadership, the next two focus on team leadership, the following two emphasise on work and occupation whilst the last course emphasizes on economic prosperity which is the impact on the world/community.

“I will like to encourage everyone to work harder on themselves than they do on their job because when a person’s attitude changes, everything else will change,” he said.

He further elaborated that if one works eight hours on one’s job then one has to invest more than eight hours working on one’s personal development.

“Stop wasting your precious time watching TV or scrolling on the social media,” he added.

After the presentation, Dr Molete announced that those who may be interested to know more about the Talent Incubation and Coaching programme should email Nqobile Ncane at NqobileN@dut.ac.za.

He then requested the attendees to introduce themselves and briefly describe their skills and knowledge base which they presented in detail in the next session.

The participants described their ambitions which ranged from music, developing leaders, acting and photography.
