The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Registrar, Dr Maditsane Nkonoane, recently hosted the Registry Graduation Celebration at Ritson Hall, to recognise and thank University staff for their dedication and commitment to delivering a successful 2026 Autumn Graduation season.
The event celebrated the collective efforts of staff across the University who worked tirelessly to deliver 32 graduation ceremonies between 11 and 27 May 2026, during which 7,993 graduates were awarded their qualifications.
Addressing those in attendance, Dr Nkonoane expressed his sincere appreciation for the professionalism, teamwork and unwavering commitment shown by staff, whose efforts ensured a memorable graduation experience for graduates and their families.
“It is not as easy as people may think when you are in action and everything is captured so meticulously by our media team. The optics are something you can never get tired of watching, and whenever I have time, I revisit some of the sessions. Putting together an event of this magnitude takes a very special effort, and I want to express my gratitude to all role players. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who played a part in the success of the 2026 Autumn Graduation season,” he said.
Acting Deputy Registrar, Vikesh Singh, also commended the commitment shown by staff.
“Many of you went far beyond your normal working hours, responding to system challenges, supporting users and finding solutions under considerable pressure. Although much of the work went unseen, it was essential to the success of graduation. As we celebrate this achievement, let us take pride in what we have accomplished together and the lessons we have learnt through this great success,” he said.
Several support units and departments, including Multimedia, Design Studio, Data Analytics, Maintenance and Corporate Affairs, were presented with gifts and certificates of appreciation in recognition of their dedicated contribution and unwavering support to the successful delivery of the 2026 Autumn Graduation Ceremonies.
Programme Director, Keshan Govender, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of Mr Alan Khan, Senior Director of Corporate Affairs.
He said the presentation of appreciation certificates symbolised the University’s sincere gratitude to every individual who contributed to the planning, coordination and successful delivery of the 2026 Autumn Graduation Ceremonies. He thanked everyone for their collective effort in making the graduation season a resounding success.
