The Durban University of Technology (DUT) has once again lived up to its intention of actively participating in the development of the KZN region, South Africa and the world, which was evident when DUT was once again awarded with the Diamond Arrow Award at the 2022 Professional Market Research (PMR Africa) Awards.

DUT was bestowed the Diamond Arrow Award during a breakfast awards ceremony on Wednesday, 28 September 2022 at Elangeni/Maharani Hotel, Durban.  In 2020 and in 2021, the University was awarded with the Diamond Arrow Award in the same category: Leaders and Outstanding First-Overall Achievers in KwaZulu Natal. DUT was voted by CEO’s, MD’s, Business owners, company directors, managers and senior government officials in the province.  This award is an acknowledges stimulating the economic growth and development of the province.

Upon hearing the exciting news of DUT’s achievement, Alan Khan, Senior Director of Corporate Affairs said, “it was a tremendous honour winning the 2022 Leaders and Achievers Award from PMR Africa and I am ecstatic that the Durban University of Technology was named as the number one tertiary institution for this category, in the province. This acknowledgement, together with the announcement that DUT has also received the PMR Africa Diamond status, was wonderful recognition of our staff, students and alumni, who consistently act with passion and purpose and who live the values and principles of the ENVISION2030 strategy, that is fundamental to The DUT Way.”

PMR Africa conduct an annual survey in April of each year. In the survey, participants reflect on the different organisations’ status over the past 12 months. The PMR Awards identify contributions and initiatives, strategies, efforts and hard work done by companies in their sector. PMR Africa evaluates the company’s vision, integrity, values, competence and ‘empathy’ that contributes to ethical and sustainable business practices.

PMR Africa conducts its research telephonically and it is not pre-coded, meaning that it is up to the respondents to nominate and rate candidates in the various categories on certain criteria. The whole research and survey process is independently funded by PMR Africa, so that the integrity and independence of the research is reserved.
