DUT SCOOPS GOLD AT PMR AFRICA AWARDS

DUT SCOOPS GOLD AT PMR AFRICA AWARDS

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) brand continues to be rated amongst winners. This was once again reflected when the institution scooped Gold during the Professional Market Research Africa (PMR) Awards ceremony held on Monday, 19 August 2019, at the Elangeni Maharani Hotel in Durban.

DUT was awarded the Gold Arrow Award for Leaders and Achievers in KwaZulu-Natal. The University secured the gold status over the past 12 months in stimulating the economic growth and development of the province. The PMR Africa awards are held annually and acknowledges contributions and initiatives, strategies, efforts and hard work done by companies. PMR Africa does this by looking at a company’s vision, integrity, values, competence and ‘empathy’ that contributes to ethical and sustainable business practices.

Acknowledging the award, Senior Director of Corporate Affairs: Alan Khan said the University was honoured to receive the 2019 PMR Africa Golden Arrow Award for Leaders and Achievers in KwaZulu-Natal. “Our University is delighted that PMR Africa has recognised the leading role that we are playing in the development of KwaZulu-Natal. What makes this award so meaningful is that it is presented by PMR Africa following feedback that they had received from CEO’s, MD’s, business owners, company directors, managers and senior government officials in the province. DUT will continue the journey of developing leadership in technology and productive citizenship. The University appreciates the award from PMR Africa and we celebrate this honour with all students, staff and Alumni of DUT,” said Khan.

PMR Africa conducts its research telephonically and it is not pre-coded, meaning that it is up to the respondents to nominate and rate the candidates in the various categories on a certain criteria. The whole research and survey process is independently funded by PMR Africa so that the integrity and independence of the research is reserved. Surveys are done annually and this year was the 17th year.

In his closing remarks, PMR Africa Chief Executive Officer (CEO): Johan Hattingh congratulated all the winners and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and emphasized the importance of encouraging and acknowledging excellence of all personnel and members of staff for their hard work and for contributing to a winning company or institution.
