When did you join the DUT sport team?

A: “I joined the team in 2023.”

What sparked your interest in this type of sport?

A: “My interest in track and field began in middle school when I participated in a 100 metre race . The adrenaline of the competition and the sense of accomplishment I felt after crossing the finish line made me eager to pursue the sport further.”

In terms of the position you play elaborate what it entails and how it benefits the team?

A: “I participate in the 400 metre and 200 metre races. The 400 metre is a mix of speed and endurance, requiring me to maintain a fast pace for entire lap. It helps the team by providing a strong middle distance runner, especially in relay events like the 4x 400 metre. The 200 metre is all about explosive speed and power, where I focus on a strong start and finishing fast . Both events benefit the team by adding points in different categories and helping with momentum in individual and relay races.”

Which other sport codes are you interested in and why?

A: “I’m also interested in boxing, rugby and chess for different reasons. Boxing appeals to me because of the focus on discipline, strength, and strategy in one -on-one competition. Rugby is exciting due to its teamwork, fast pace, and physicality. Chess on the other hand, challenges my mind with strategic thinking and planning which I find valuable in any sport.”

Who is your sport role model and why?

A: “My role model in track and field is Zakithi Nene because of his incredible work ethic, consistency and success in the 200 metre and 400 metres, the same events I compete in. I really admire how he manages to keep the balance between speed and endurance, especially in the 400 metre , while still excelling in the fast-paced 200 metre. Watching his performances inspires me to push myself harder.”

Which ENVISION2030 living values and principles do you associate with and why?
