DUT SPRING GRADUATION ENDS ON A HIGH NOTE!

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2022 Spring Graduation ended off on high note with ululation, song and dance on Friday, 30 September 2022 at the Durban Exhibition Centre.

A total number of 1132 students graduated this season, with 570 male and 562 female graduates. Although the Autumn graduation saw more females graduated, the male power took centre stage at this graduation. Last Thursday morning the Faculty of Health Sciences graduated 64 students and the Faculty of Accounting and Informatics had 168. The second session on Thursday had 336 graduates from the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment. Day one of the first in person Spring Graduation was concluded by the Faculty of Applied Sciences with 128 graduates and the first group of the Faculty of Management Sciences.

The second day morning session graduates from the Faculty of Arts and Design had a total of 33 students along with graduates from the Faculty of Management Sciences. The Faculty of Management Sciences had a total 403 students graduating.

In her concluding remarks after the last session was Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr Melanie Lourens who congratulated all graduates but encouraged everyone to dream big.

“It is my absolute honour to say congratulations to each and everyone of you. We are extremely proud of this achievement that you have succeeded in your dreams,” she said.

Dr Lourens reminded all the graduates whether they were sitting at the hall wearing Diploma, Masters’ degree or Doctorate red gowns it all started with a dream.

DUT returned to in person graduations in 2022 after the relaxation of the COVID-19 regulations and protocol. Returning to in-person graduations has been a celebration like no other graduation prior to the whole world being embattled in the COVID-19 pandemic.
