DUT SRC Hosted a Seminar on Business and Entrepreneurship

Focusing and encouraging entrepreneurship in students, the Durban University of Technology Student Representative Council (SRC) held a Business& Entrepreneurship Seminar at the Arthur Smith Hall, City Campus on Tuesday (09 May 2017).

The seminar had presentations from Invotech, SEDA and NYDA, with guest speakers such as entrepreneur, DJ, Author and Philanthropist Dj Sbu Leope, South Africa’s Youngest Millionaire of Global Forex Institute Sandile Shezi and 2016’s Top Young Executive Award winner Calvin Family Group, Calvin Mathibeli.
“Entrepreneurship does not work in isolation it is about seeking advice and help from other businesses and businessmen because no man can make it happen all alone,” said Dj Sbu Leope while addressing students.

DUT SRC Secretary, Mbuso Sithole said the event was not only a success but many students benefited from the information they received. “We invited youth development and empowerment organisations to give an insight about the business sector. We discovered that often it is not that people are not keen to be entrepreneurs but they lacked information. Most people fear the business sector or, they don’t know where to seek advice and funding. Therefore as a Student Representative body of the University it is our vital role to assist in developing the minds of the students especially since there is a large sum of unemployed graduates in the country,” he said.

This seminar formed part of the various student centred programmes that the SRC has planned for the 2016/17 term of the current executive.
