DUT STAFF SOCCER TEAM VICTORIOUS AGAINST KING HINTSA TVET

The Durban University of Technology’s soccer team was victorious during the University staff sports tournament held at the Mangosuthu University of Technology on Saturday (15 July 2017).

At the tournament, DUT beat King Hintsa TVET and drew against MUT. The tournament was attended by the University of Zululand, Walter Sisulu University, King Hintsa TVET, CCBSA Coastal FC, Nedbank (Umlazi Branch) FC and Uzalo.

King Hintsa tried very hard to level scores with DUT during its game, but DUT won with one goal to nil. “The team worked tirelessly in making sure that we return home with a win. However, just like the previous year, our final match against MUT was not easy because just like our defence, MUT also has a backline strong team and we managed to draw 0-0,” said Nhlanhla Nhleko, DUT’s Coach.

Due to time constraints, the teams played two games each. The next tournament is scheduled to take place in October at the University of Johannesburg and the DUT team is confident that it will win the tournament.

“We would like to thank all our sponsors for believing in us and for seeing the need to lend a helping hand to the team. Had we not received support from DUT’s Corporate Affairs Unit, DUT Sport Administration and Transport Department, the team would have suffered and had a shortage of resources and food,” said Thulile Duma, DUT staff sport team coordinator.
