The Durban University of Technology (DUT) has launched a new, revised logo. Sanele Xaba and Nomkhuleko Thutshini from the DUT Communications team spoke to some students about their thoughts on the revised logo.
Shardell Joyce, 2nd Year Clothing Management
“I would say I am happy with the new logo because most of the students at DUT understand isiZulu so the logo accommodates everyone and as there is also English words as well.”
Syathemba Ngcobo, 2nd Year Marketing
“As I have seen the DUT new logo I would say it is a good idea because DUT is situated in KwaZulu-Natal where there are many isiZulu speaking people.”
Ayanda Manqele, 3rd Year Electrical Engineering
“I am very proud as I am Zulu speaking, and to see the new logo, I feel welcomed at DUT. I would have been happier to see other dominating languages included but I am pleased with what I see.”
Shamase Sambulo, 2nd Year Food and Nutrition Consumer Sciences
“I feel like the new DUT logo is a good thing because it shows diversity of the university itself and it should have been something which was introduced long time ago.”
Deraisha Govender, 2nd Year Industrial Engineering
“I feel that the logo is better because it is an interracial university and it combines more than one race.”
