DUT hosts annual lunch event for School Principals

Durban University of Technology’s Student Recruitment Department will be hosting 60 secondary school principals and Life Orientation educators with presentations at the Hotel School Conference Centre, a tour of the facilities in the Faculty of Health Sciences is also arranged and finally the visit will culminate with lunch at DUT’s Rendezvous Restaurant on Friday, 17 October 2014.

The annual luncheon event was conceptualised five years ago as a means of showcasing DUT, the high quality of academic programmes and the facilities that are available for students.

The core function of the Student Recruitment Department is to inform prospective students of the study opportunities available at the university and the careers that are associated with these programmes. The department mission is to showcase DUT as a first choice tertiary institution in KwaZulu-Natal and a leading university of technology in Africa.

Rodney Maharaj, Manager: Student Recruitment, said “The aim of this luncheon function is to promote DUT as a leading university of technology and the theme for the function is ‘DUT – A Student Centred University That Creates Great Minds.’

We want to inform and educate our guests on each of our facilities and programmes on offer as well as ensure that our guests become ambassadors of our institution. We want them to go back to the schools and promote this to their pupils with the positive perception of the exciting and wonderful faculties that does exist at DUT.

We at DUT want to highlight to our guests that our university is the preferred university for developing leadership in technology and productive citizenship. So our mission is to ensure that we convince prospective students to make the right career choice and consider selecting DUT as a preferred institution of higher learning.”

On the day, each faculty will be given an opportunity to do presentations to our esteemed guests.
