DUT’s CSE Hosted a Successful Entrepreneurship Development programme

The Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) in partnership with the Wadhwani Foundation USA hosted a certification of Entrepreneurship Development at the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Hotel School, Ritson Campus in Durban.

The event was held to celebrate the completion of the Entrepreneurship Development Training. The first step towards this training is the Faculty Development Programme. The training will consist of 5-phases and phase one of the programme started on 12 December 2018, which was electronically delivered through learning snippets, videos, webinars and online assessments with the staff teaching entrepreneurship.

The second phase was a face to face training that took place from 21 to 26 January 2019. Delegates from different national and international institutions such as Namibia University of Science, International University of Monaco, University of Namibia, BA ISAGO University, University of Botswana, Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) and Durban University of Technology attended the training.

The event was attended by various stakeholders from different institutions and organisations including the MUT Deputy Vice Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) Professor Marcus Mathabeng Ramogale, UKZN DVC, Professor Deresh Ramjugernath, DUT’s DVC: Research, Innovation and Engagement, Professor Sibusiso Moyo, Wadhwani Foundation, Programme Manager, Mr Atul Padulkar, Elangeni TVET College Principal, Ms Thangithini Juliet Aryetey.

“This is the beginning of greater things and we are looking forward to bringing and working with all KZN Universities. This programme will build and develop entrepreneurs” said the excited Director of the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, Dr Poppet Pillay during his welcoming remarks.

“The world has changed and as an institution it is our responsibility to upskill students and horn them to become future game changers. We will be doing this productively with the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship which is an award winning center nationally,” said Professor Moyo.

Wadhwani Foundation Program Manager, Mr Atul Padulkar applauded DUT for its role in facilitating the entrepreneurship development training. He added that University is the greener place to develop entrepreneurship.
