DUT’S VACCINATION THURSDAYS CONTINUES AT ISOLEMPILO CLINIC

DUT’S VACCINATION THURSDAYS CONTINUES AT ISOLEMPILO CLINIC

The Isolempilo Clinic at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) is open for vaccination against COVID-19 every Thursday until the end of October 2021.

Students, staff and Alumni who wish to get their jab can go to the Steve Biko campus, which is where the Isolempilo Clinic is located. You can choose between the Johnson and Johnson vaccine or the Pfizer vaccine. Please bring your ID and student/staff card with you.

Senior Professional Nurse at Isolempilo clinic, Sister Sooriagandhi Wardthen advised those who require the Pfizer vaccine to enquire at the clinic. She further reminded staff or students who have received their first Pfizer dose to contact the Clinic on 031373 2223 to arrange for their second dose.

“There is ample evidence that vaccines are safe and effective, but some people still have concerns and doubts. Our COVID-19 Training and Education Unit debunks the myths about the COVID vaccines, and shares the facts during webinars. Information is also shared in the weekly DUT COVID-19 Response Task Team statements and on the DUT website. We are available to listen to your concerns, share the facts and allow you the space to make an informed decision. Access to vaccination is convenient and on your doorstep,” said Sister Wardthen.

The first “Vaccination Thursday” took place on 30 September 2021, when 31 students were vaccinated. Prior to this, 849 students and staff were vaccinated at the Hotel School vaccination site from 8 and 17 September 2021.

“It is important to take the vaccine. This reduces your chances of getting sick,” said Thembela Msibi, Information Technology student who vaccinated at the Isolempilo Clinic.

“Consider vaccination your contribution to making the DUT environment a safer one for all. Don’t hesitate. Vaccinate!” said Sister Wardthen.
