DUT’S VIRTUAL OPEN DAY A HUGE SUCCESS

DUT’S VIRTUAL OPEN DAY A HUGE SUCCESS

The Department of Student Recruitment and International Office at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted a successful Virtual Open Day on Tuesday, 29 September 2020, to assist the current grade 12 pupils to make the right career choice.

Pupils from various schools around South Africa were offered an opportunity to communicate with the Student Recruitment staff via WhatsApp to seek information about the different faculties, departments and study programmes offered at the university.

The Open Day video was also posted on DUT’s Virtual Open Day page and also shared on the University’s YouTube channel to ensure it reaches as many pupils as possible.

The Department of Student Recruitment Manager, Alex Mdletshe said the Virtual Open Day was successful as it gave them an opportunity to reach out to pupils that they were not able to reach previously including international students.

Mdletshe said even though the Open Day has come and gone, they will continue to communicate via WhatsApp with people seeking DUT’s career programme information.

He stated that the Virtual Open Day page is still active providing information such as: Study Opportunities, Career Leaflets, Central Applications Office (CAO) information, NSFAS 2021 Applications and International Student Guide.

“The Virtual Open Day will from now on happen every year together with the traditional campus open week to ensure that those who cannot come to campus are not left behind,” said Mdletshe.

Pupils wanting to build a successful career path and be practically equipped for the real working world were reminded that DUT is the place to go.

The institution was recently ranked as one of the top five universities in South Africa and amongst the best in Africa, by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021.

Over 55 internationally recognised courses are offered at DUT providing graduates with endless opportunities to reach full potential.
