Empowering Black Business Women

Empowering Black Business Women

In addressing critical challenges faced by the South African labour market, the Durban University of Technology is partnering with industry leaders like Certiport, Microsoft and Mentec in a bid to offer industry ready skills leading to international credentials for black business women in South Africa.

The partnership aims to empower black business women with digital literacy, Microsoft’s productivity tools and entrepreneurship skills.

DUT will host three training workshops; each workshop consisting of five-day training sessions starting with Digital Literacy (IC3) on 27 June 2016, followed by Microsoft Office Specialist (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) on 19 September 2016 and finally, Entrepreneurship for Small Business on 28 November 2016.

These community training workshops will offer an excellent learning environment for women in business. The courses are free and will only be offered to black entrepreneurial business women at DUT.

During the first run, 60 women will go through this program. Program co-ordinators are hoping to extend this number to more women in the near future. At the end of the training workshops, the candidates will be subjected to an international certification exam. On successful completion, each participant will receive a certificate from the respective vendor.

Registrations for interested parties are now open until 21 May 2016. Registration for this training can be found at http://bit.do/duttraining.
