ENTHRALLING INDLAMU DANCING WAS THE NORM AT THE SECOND DUT GRADUATION SESSION

Vigorous, traditional Zulu (Indlamu) dancing incorporating energetic, high kicking motions and depicting the jovial moods of the 268 graduates’ jubilation dominated the graduation stage today, 11 July 2022.

The second session of the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Celebratory Autumn Graduation Ceremony took place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Durban Convention Centre with parents equally participating in showcasing their customary moves, expressing their admiration for the graduates at the sterling, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment ceremony.

Thombela Shongwe, a National Diploma in Engineering: Electrical (Heavy Current) graduate, was absolutely thrilled firstly be part of the physical graduation as well as have his loved ones witness this momentous occasion.

“I am absolutely thrilled and cannot express how happy I am to have been able to share the stage with other amazing graduates,” he said.

Dr Maliga Reddy: Associate Director: Public Management, Faculty of Management Sciences proudly welcomed the graduates by congratulating the successful students on stage for their outstanding achievements and sustained studying over an extended period, and for engaging with new ideas and techniques, building new knowledge through workplace experiences and enduring all the challenges imposed by the pandemic.

“It is a special partnership between parents, students, their professors and lecturers that produces this wonderful outcome, a partnership built on respect to each other and other traditions of the normal profession of the academic. The sacrifices and commitment and passion of parents are fundamental to this achievements, this being your crowning moment. We encourage you to share your special and epic moments,” she said.
