Bio: Dr Tshepo Tlapana holds a doctoral degree in Marketing from the Durban University of Technology, prior to joining DUT he had worked with Marko for two years and developed key interest in retailing. He joined the university in 2006 as a junior lecturer and developed through to the ranks to lecturer, Programme Manager retail Business Management and now Head of Department.

He has taught Marketing, Retailing and International business at various institutions namely, Duale Hochschule Ravensburg- Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (Germany), Business Studies Unit (BSU) and Institute of Marketing Management (IMM).  He is passionate about academia and research. His research interest are within store formats, customer service and retail strategy.

Bio: Professor Jeeva Govender is Associate Professor in the Department and holds a PhD in Marketing.  He is a long serving staff member, being at the university for over 26 years.  He has been involved in teaching at undergraduate level, with a focus on post-graduate studies.His has several masters and doctoral graduates. In addition, he has presented extensively at international conferences and has many journal article publications to his credit.  His focus areas include relationship marketing, green marketing and services marketing.

Bio: Professor Darry Penceliah holds a PhD in the area of non-profit marketing from the University of Potchefstroom and is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management. He specializes in financial aspects of marketing, Services marketing and non-profit marketing.He has published in international journals, textbooks and presented papers at international conferences.

He has externally examined various postgraduate degrees at South African universities and serves on two editorial boards of international academic journals. He was involved in collaborations with an international educational institution.  The major focus presently is on supervising and promoting masters and doctoral students.

Bio: Dr Karen Corbishley is a lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management at the Durban University of Technology. She received her D Phil Management Science (Marketing) from the Durban University of Technology. Before joining Durban University of Technology n

ineteen years ago, she worked in the marketing department of SA Wimpy, a well-known fast food brand. She was responsible for the initiation and Programme Management of the Retail Management Diploma over the last 20 years.

Her D Phil was in the Retail field focusing on Loyalty programmes Relationship Management. Other interests include Cause Related Marketing and Private Schools Marketing. She has been involved in the supervision and co-supervision of a number of successful Masters and has published in International Journals and presented at both Local and International Conferences.  She is involved in community service, serving on the Board of the Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre in Malvern, Durban.

Bio: Dr Mandusha Maharaj in her capacity as Senior Lecturer at the Department of Marketing and Retail Management at the DUT is involved in Management Studies research cluster coordination and the coordinator of the international exchange students. She also engages in research and supervision of Masters and PhD Managements Sciences postgraduate students. She also lectures to undergraduate students in the Marketing and Retail Management qualifications.

In addition, through her research involvement, both supervising masters and doctoral qualifications, she participates in the universities research, teaching and learning projects. She has been invited to chair and judge the annual research day at the university for the past five years. She also serves as mentor to postgraduate students of the management studies cluster. In addition, she also participates as an external examiner for Masters Qualifications at University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Bio: Dr Padhma Moodley is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management. She lectures Marketing, Advertising and Research, which involves both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr Moodley’s academic career began in 2007 at the University of Zululand where she was a lecturer in the Department of Communication Science where she completed her PhD research.  In 2013, she moved to the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Limpopo, Turfloop Campus. A year later, she joined the Durban University of Technology.Her research interests includes marketing & Advertising, Communication, Journalism and Higher Education.

Bio: Dr Veerasamy is a senior lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail. She completed her PhD in Marketing at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Her areas of interest include relationship marketing, electronic communication and services marketing. She has a good publication record and has presented papers at international conferences. Bio: Dr Raymond Hawkins-Mofokeng holds a PhD in Agricultural, Environmental and Food Science and Technology from Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (UNIBO) Italy, a Master’s degree of Technology in Marketing Management from the Durban University of Technology (DUT). He joined DUT in 2012 as a lecturer and gradually progressed to the level of a Programme Manager in Marketing Management.

He has imparted knowledge in Marketing Management, Time and Stress Management, Work Preparedness and Retail Marketing to both undergraduate and post-graduate students. He has also collaborated with few international authors in publishing journal articles, a book and a book chapter. He is currently involved in the supervision of few Masters Students and a PhD student. His focus areas include Marketing Strategy, interdisciplinary research, Geographical Indications (GIs), value-chain governance strategies, agri-businesses, and rural economic development.

Bio: Ms Matli is a New Generation of Academics lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management. She holds a BTech degree in Marketing from Central University of Technology Free State. Prior to joining DUT, Ms Matli has been in the Marketing and Retail Industry for over ten years, holding positions in Retail, Marketing and Sales Management and Facilitation. She has also worked as an Institutional Researcher for one year at Mangosuthu University of Technology.

She is passionate about academia and research, her dream is to see the academic arena evolve and meet the requirements of the industry by producing versatile young professionals. Her research interests include branding of Higher Education Institutions, consumer decision making and selection.

Mr A Kamwendo Lecturer: Mr AR Kamwendo

Bio: Mr Andrew R Kamwendo is a lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail Business Management at the Durban University of technology. He received his M.Tech: Marketing degree from the Durban University of Technology and has published research articles in two international journals. He has lectured part-time in the department for over two years while studying towards his doctorate as a teaching assistant.

Mr Kamwendo has worked within the Durban Universities Writing Centre for three years. He has also worked in industry for two years as a junior marketing accounts manager.  His areas of interest include consumer behaviour and retail marketing.
