Head of Department: Dr Strinivasan S. Pillay (D.Admin :UKZN ) Tel: 031 373 5605 Email: pillayss@dut.ac.za Bio: Dr Strinivasan S. Pillay is the Head of Department for Public Management and Economics. His areas of specialisation and interests include the following: Public Sector Human Resource Management. Strategic Planning, Leadership, Change Management, Managing Diversity and Local Government Management, Community Engagement, International Education and Partnerships, Work Integrated Learning and COIL. He is an accredited facilitator, assessor and moderator. Has worked extensively and continues to be actively involved with the National, Provincial and Local Governments. Dr SS Pillay has presented papers at Local, National and International conferences and is involved in the supervision of Masters and Doctoral students. He serves on numerous structures of the university.

Professor : Prof Nirmala Dorasamy Tel: 031 373 6862 Email: nirmala@dut.ac.za Bio: Professor Dorasamy is Full Professor in the Department of Public Management and Economics at the Durban University of Technology. She lectures in the undergraduate programme and supervises postgraduate students. The focus area of her research is ethics and public sector management, with an emphasis on enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of public service delivery underpinned by a strong sense of governance within a democratic dispensation. Her international linkages involve collaborative research with the Swinburne University of Technology, Federation University and Monash University in Australia, the American University in Cairo, MUST University in Kenya and Mendel University in Czech Republic. The focus of this international collaboration is linked to governance, leadership excellence and ethical practices. She has successfully supervised and graduated several Masters and Doctoral students, while being recognised as a local and international examiner for postgraduate research. She is an accredited evaluator for EDTP and CHE; and an editorial board member for several internationally acclaimed journals. Professor Dorasamy has developed resource material for government, and both local and international institutions of higher education. She has co-authored textbooks for senior secondary learners, books for higher education purposes and she has published in local and international journals as well as presented papers at national and international conferences. She has been a keynote speaker and session chair at several international conferences. She has been the recipient of the Top Researcher\Top Female\ Top faculty Awards at the Durban University of Technology. She was successfully nominated for the international staff exchange in the Faculty of Regional development at the Mendel University, Czech Republic and the federation university in Australia |

Associate Director : Dr Maliga Reddy Tel: 031 845 5212 Email: reddy@dut.ac.za Bio: Dr Maliga Reddy is an Associate Director in the Department of Public Management and Economics; with some 26 years of service at DUT. She served 9 of these years as Head of Department: Public Management (Durban/PMB). She represents DUT on various National, Provincial and Local forums in both a professional and academic capacities. Her training and development forte resides in Public Management & Leadership, Local Government Management, Development Management, Disaster Risk Management and Project Management.
