Dear staff and students
Reports that the Durban University of Technology will be closed next week “as a result of unresolved issues with the Vice-Chancellor” are false. As of this afternoon (28 September 2016), the meeting with DUT, its SRC, NSFAS and the Department of Higher Education and Training is currently in session. There is no decision to shutdown next week and there is no request to evacuate residences. Staff and students are urged to be aware of the misinformation that often circulates via social media and to only rely on official DUT communication which we distribute via the University’s website, DUT PinBoard, DUT4life as well as official social media platforms.
