The Durban University of Technology (DUT), Faculty of Accounting and Informatics, Finance and Information Management departments successfully hosted a work-integrated learning (WIL) farewell function for their third-year business and information management students. The event was held on Friday evening, 10 October 2025, Buhle’s Country Estate.
The event was held to celebrate the students successful completion of their WIL placements and to recognise their dedication, personal growth, and professional development throughout their WIL placement.
Doing the official welcoming and purpose of the day was Dr Thandukwazi Ncube Head of Department who commended the students for their commitment, professionalism as well as perseverance throughout their WIL placement. In his address Dr Ncube congratulated the students for reaching this milestone and reminded the students that the lessons that they learned during their WIL placement are foundational to their future careers. He encouraged them to continue upholding the DUT’s Envision2030 values as they transition into the professional world.
“The world of work requires not only technical skills but also resilience, adaptability, and a person who is willing to learn continuously. You are ambassadors of DUT and the Building Information Modelling (BIM), programme go out there and represent us with pride and purpose,” said Dr Ncube.
The event featured motivational addresses from guest speakers, including alumni and current students, who shared their insights, experiences, and words of encouragement. Students were presented with certificates of completion and tokens of appreciation for their hard work and achievement.
