First Chinese Writing Competition held at DUT

The First Chinese Character Writing Competition successfully held at DUT, To further celebrate the “2015 Year of China in South Africa”, the First Chinese Character Writing Competition was successfully hosted by the Confucius Institute(CI) at M L Sultan Campus recently.

Nearly 50 of CI Mandarin learners enjoyed the pleasure of writing a different language in the competition, most of whom, after careful preparation, submitted their best works for the event under the special instruction from the CI teachers. Finally 10 fortunate participants have been singled out to be awarded with different prizes to acknowledge their excellency in writing Chinese characters well.

In the following awarding ceremony, the CI co-deans Professor Graham Stewart and Professor Eddie C Fu congratulated the winners on their achievement and encouraged them to carry on learning mandarin to a higher level. Meanwhile, all the delighted awarded students appreciated the CI for providing such an unforgettable opportunity to narrow down the distance between them and the Chinese language, and they expressed their wish to attend more competitions to improve their Chinese language proficiency.

By this competition the CI instructors also have a chance to examine the results of the recent teaching of Mandarin courses offered by the DUT CI to better assist the young Mandarin learners from DUT community.
