Thanks to Durban University of Technology’s partnership with France and Dassault Systèmes, a DUT delegation went to Paris on 25 June 2022 until 2 July 2022.

Laurent Marche and Frederic Douphy set up a visit at Dassault Systèmes campus in France for DUT and CPUT`s delegations on 29 June 2022. Marche is a French expert on the 3Dexperience; he manages the centre and trainings at DUT and CPUT.

The Dassault Systèmes` team gave a warm welcome to DUT and CPUT at Velizy-France.

“We started by a presentation of the 3Dexperience platform on the playground facilities. Mr Jacquand and his staff did a complete presentation of partners, industries who work using this platform. He underlines their wish to go further with the PLMcc and universities in South Africa. Followed by an update of the ‘Franco South African 3Dexperience academic centre’. We noticed that at DUT some lecturers are already certified on the platform,” said Marche.

Then EDU Hub, explained how to take advantage to improve skills to be employable and how to train learners on the 3Dexperience platform. The French Embassy and the French Ministry –DREIC and FEI- also welcomed DUT delegations.

“They are satisfied of the project and underlined the need to go ahead with partnerships with French Universities,” said Marche.

To finish the day, the team enjoyed Corse specialties at La Garenne Colombes.

“On behalf of the Durban University of Technology, I wish to thank the excellent work which is done by Mr Laurent Marche, who remains at our disposal and to encourage our DUT staff and researchers, especially in the Engineering, Health Sciences and Arts & Design to take advantage of his presence at DUT to train on the 3Dexperience platform. Thanks also to Mr Frederic Douphy from Dassault Systèmes and our DUT delegation that was led by Prof Keo Motaung, Director: Technology Transfer and Innovation. Other DUT participants included Prof Gugu Mchunu (Executive Dean, Health Sciences), Ms Nokwanda Shezi (NGap Electronic and Computer Engineering), Dr Thembi Patience Mahlangu (Lecturer Chemical Engineering),” said the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation & Engagement at the Durban University of Technology, Professor Sibusiso Moyo.
