GLOBAL PARTNERING BETWEEN XI’AN JIAOTONG-LIVERPOOL UNIVERSITY AND DUT

Dr Anisa Vahed, Honorary Research Associate in the Department of Operations and Quality Management at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), and Associate Professor of Practice at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou, China, has forged a global partnership between DUT and XJLTU.

This partnership commenced with a recent webinar titled “Moving Artificial Intelligence (AI) Scholarship”, moderated by Dr Vahed. During this event, Charlie Reis, Director of the Educational Development Unit at XJTLU, engaged DUT colleagues in a dynamic discussion on Generative AI from various perspectives. This included fostering AI literacy among students and staff to adapting teaching and assessment methods to incorporate ethical practices related to Generative AI. Additionally, the conversation encompassed collaborative efforts to share best practices considering the evolving technology and its applications, among other critical areas.

In an upcoming webinar, scheduled for November 2023, Mr Reis will join Prof Shalini Singh in engaging DUT colleagues, with a focus on “Integrating AI Assessment in the Classroom.”

Furthermore, Dr/Associate Professor Vahed has collaborated with the International Education and Partnerships Directorate to facilitate a COIL training and Partnering Fair in October 2023. Participation in this event is expected to foster numerous collaborations between academics from DUT and XJTLU.
