The Durban University of Technology (DUT) alumnus, Mduduzi Phungula’s inspirational journey resembles DUT’s goal to produce innovative and adaptive graduates.
Phungula has recently joined one of the biggest broadcasting stations in the country South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) as a news anchor.
Sharing his excitement Phungula said joining SABC News is a dream come true not only for him but for everyone who wished to see him prosper in his career.
“I cannot really express how happy and blessed I am. This is really a dream come true not only for me but also for others. It is a testament that anything is possible if you believe in yourself. Regardless of your background,’’ said Phungula.
It was just a matter of time for Phungula to prosper in his career. The 29-year-old who hails from Inchanga, Durban, studied journalism at DUT City Campus and kickstarted his career at Radio DUT. His talent and hard work saw him working at one of the biggest radio stations in KwaZulu-Natal, Vibe FM, Gagasi FM, Al Ansaar and Soweto TV in Johannesburg. Phungula is also a founder a YouTube channel called Dawud TVZA with over 140 000 subscribers which played a massive impact in his recent success.
Journalism has always been his passion. He always had a passion of telling stories, from working behind the scenes to front of the camera. He also shared his advice to those who about to enroll for year 2025 to believe in themselves and work hard.
“Whenever you are being given an opportunity excel because you might never know who is watching. You are the one who knows what it tis hat you want to achieve, and you must make it happen,’’ said Phungula.
