Lereece James, a 22-year-old lass from the small town of Umzinto in the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal; graduated Cum Laude for her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Diagnostic Radiography on Tuesday evening (30 May 2023) at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Autumn Graduation held at the Olive Convention centre (OCC).
James shared that the Bachelor of Health Sciences in Diagnostic Radiography was at the top of her list in her Central Application Office (CAO) application and She feels extremely blessed and fulfilled that she followed her heart and studied what she loves. In addition, she shared that she has a passion for technology and helping others, and diagnostic radiography incorporates both these aspects.
Detailing her journey at DUT she said: “My DUT journey has had its highs and lows, however, without the low moments I would not have been able to appreciate the highs. The transition from contact classes to online learning presented as a challenge to me in my academic journey, however, time is said to be the best teacher, and I therefore gradually adapted.”
The elated Cum Laude graduate shared her excitement upon learning that she has completed her degree and was graduating Cum Laude.
“I’m ecstatic. This has been something that I have been looking forward to since my first year, and now that the moment has finally arrived I could not be any happier. I’m also thankful for everyone who has been part of my academic journey,” she beamed proudly.
Furthermore, she shared that the completion of this degree has ignited a passion for research within her and for this reason she intend on completing her Master’s degree. She intends to officially start her career and build a life for herself
Advising first year students she said: “As the saying goes, ‘hard work pays off’. You will never regret going the extra mile, being dedicated, and always striving to your best in every task assigned,” she advised.
