Life after Idols for DUT’s Sanele Mkhize

Life after Idols for DUT’s Sanele Mkhize

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) has its very own talented singer Sanele Mkhize who is a second-year Ecotourism Management student.

Mkhize raised the DUT flag high when he made it to the Top 10 of SA Idols 2016 competition.

Born in Ntuzuma, 21-year-old Mkhize is a worship leader and motivational speaker to his fellow peers. His passion for music started from an early age although he never thought he would one day be brave enough to enter Idols as he thought the people who entered the competition were nothing but brave.

The self-motivated Mkhize lives to motivate and inspire people around him “We have to inspire young people to go out of their way to achieve their dreams,” he said. While the elimination from the competition would have marked the end of the road, it was only the beginning for Mkhize. Inspired by people like young musician Nasty C; Mkhize wants to push even harder than before to someday make his mark in the music industry.
After leaving idols, Mkhize received a few offers from music producers but is yet to meet with them. He also does bookings for performances at events.

Grateful for the experience, Mkhize sees this as one of his great achievements. “The Idols team took really good care of us which created a very joyful experience,” he said. People can still expect more from the young singer as he does performances and is open for bookings for all types of events.

He encourages the youth who have a passion for singing to go out and audition for Idols. “If you want to sing or enter Idols, go for it. It will create great opportunities for you,” he said.
