McKay’s Passion For Chiropractic Is A Passion, Not A Job!

McKay’s Passion For Chiropractic Is A Passion, Not A Job!

“For me, chiropractic is not a job, it’s a passion. It’s so rewarding to be used as a vessel of healing to realign someone’s spine, remove pressure from the nervous system and watch how the body heals itself. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, and chiropractic reminds me of this everyday,” said the ecstatic Hannah McKay.

The energetic McKay graduated with 35 distinctions, obtaining her Master of Technology (M.Tech) in  Chiropractic this morning at the DUT Fred Crookes Sports Centre, during the Faculty of Health Sciences session.

McKay is now proudly the first chiropractor in her family and is also currently engaged to a chiropractor.

She is no stranger to receiving merit accolades having also won the Abe Bailey Scholarship to London in November 2017. “The Abe Bailey trip was an incredible blessing and an honour to attend. I learnt so much about different cultures, my own South African culture, and grew as a leader and public speaker,” she said.

At the moment, McKay is studying Paediatric Chiropractic through the International Chiropractic Paediatric Association. The programme consists of 14 seminars, two research papers and an exam, all in North America.

“I started studying through them in July last year, but I was on a very tight financial budget, so I backpacked around the Mid-West (USA) for a month, attending a seminar every weekend for four weekends in a row. I was hosted by friends, family and friends of friends along the way (the seminars were in three different cities so lots of long bus rides in-between), what an adventure and season of growth it was!” she added.

Her future goals are to run a paediatric focused practice. “My fiancé has a family-centred chiropractic office and we plan to practise together.”
