Meet Miss DUT 2015

Noxolo Memela, DUT Media Officer, took some time to speak to Lisanne Lazarus, the very first Indian Miss DUT. A second year Journalism student, Lazarus was crowned Miss DUT on 31 July this year.

Noxolo: Who is Lisanne?
Lisanne: Lisanne is a confident and charismatic young lady who is goal driven and determined to be successful and real. All her goals overstep her obstacles.

Noxolo: Besides modelling, what interests Lisanne?
Lisanne: I love writing and reading but I am also a very active young lady who loves sport; I’m so involved in sport! I also love socialising.

Noxolo: How do you feel about being the first Indian Miss DUT?
Lisanne: I feel elated to be the first Indian Miss DUT. I believe this is the change I wanted to bring to DUT. This shows everyone out there that DUT is in fact a diverse family.

Noxolo: What role do you think Miss DUT should play in the lives of other students?
Lisanne: Miss DUT should be able to lead by example at all times.

Noxolo: Besides the Miss DUT competition, have you ever won any other beauty pageant?
Lisanne: I’m currently the reigning Miss eThekwini 2014.

Noxolo: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Lisanne: I’d like to have graduated with at least a degree in Journalism, and to peruse a career in television presenting.

Noxolo: Your advise to other students with ambitions of being Miss DUT?
Lisanne: Never hold back. Always turn your dreams into a reality. Stay true to yourself and let whatever you have on the inside shine on the outside and the rest will be history. Never give up on you and your dreams.

Noxolo: Five things people don’t know about you?
Lisanne: 1. I love dolphins and pandas. 2. I represented KZN in a girls’ golf championship. 3. I am afraid of the dark. 4. I talk to my dog as if she is a baby. 5. I tend to hoard pictures.
