NDLOVU BELIEVES THAT RESPECT AND ACCOUNTABILITY MAKE A GREAT LEADER

The Student Representative Council (SRC) Deputy Secretary-General at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), Ms Aaliyah Ndlovu believes that respect and accountability make a great leader.

Ndlovu (22) from Inanda is currently doing her final year in Business Information Management. She joined the DUT family in 2020. At the time she joined DUT, the registration process was still done manually. During her registration, Ndlovu faced challenges, however she was fortunate to be assisted by student political leaders who were scattered all over the university premises assisting students from finding registration stations to finding residences. That is where her love for Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC) began.

Speaking about her role in the SRC, Ndlovu said her role was to be part of institutional decision making structures. “My role in the SRC is to participate in institutional decision-making structures, advising and supporting the delivery of effective and efficient student support services. I also perform all the secretarial duties in absentia of the SRC General Secretary, I also support and assist the General Secretary in the administration of the affairs of the SRC,” she explained.

Her ambition for the SRC is to organise programmes that will assist students even after her term of office is over.

Ndlovu believes that this SRC cares for students and they make sure that there are SRC members always available on campus to assist students.

Furthermore, she also believes that nothing is impossible as the word itself says “I’m possible”. According to Ndlovu, most people do not know that this SRC executive is affiliated to different political parties, because they work together and have one common goal, which is to assist students by all means necessary.
