New DUT Vehicle For Student Recruitment

New DUT Vehicle For Student Recruitment

A bigger and better vehicle has been acquired by the Durban University of Technology’s Department of Student Recruitment in replacement of the older vehicle that was badly damaged during students protests, last year (2016).

The new Nissan NP300 became the most viable option because of the long distances the recruitment officers have to travel and the road conditions in some of the communities they drive to. Above the vehicle’s ability to travel on gravel roads, the NP300 also has enough space for the marketing material carried on every trip.

Alex Mdletshe, Student Recruitment Manager, said the department has already used the vehicle for trips to Swaziland and Lesotho as well as to local rural municipalities, eBabanango, Nongoma and Ulundi, for school visits and career exhibitions.

“This branded vehicle will be on the road and visible to thousands of people every day. Together with the one-year-old Chevrolet, it will become a moving DUT billboard which will contribute towards increasing brand awareness,” he said.

The Department of Student Recruitment has also planned trips to the Ministers Imbizo in Mpumalanga (Secunda) on 18 July 2017, Career Exhibitions in the Eastern Cape from 25 to 28 July 2017 and in KwaZulu-Natal in the second semester.
