A 27-year-old Nomfundo Shange from Eshowe (Umlalazi) celebrated completing her Advanced Diploma in Management Sciences specialising in Human Resource Management with Cum Laude. She walked the stage at the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT) morning graduation session held at the Olive Convention Centre on Friday, 23 May 2025.
Her achievement is a reflection of her commitment to excellence. She has consistently strived for high standards in her studies, and this motivation has driven her to achieve academic success. As a full-time mother of a toddler, Shange has faced challenges balancing her schoolwork and work obligations. She ultimately resigned from her job to focus on her studies, and her determination paid off with outstanding academic results.
“I faced challenges like balancing my schoolwork with my work of which I ended up resigning from my workplace. As a full-time mother of a toddler, I failed to manage everything at once. I am glad the end results was the best in my academics,” she said.
Shange’s family was overjoyed by her achievement, and she is proud to have earned Cum Laude. She believes that her good grades will open new doors and opportunities for her.
“Graduating with Cum Laude is a big achievement to me that shows that I worked hard in my studies. It proves my effort and commitment. It encourages me to keep doing my best in the future. I also believe that this will open many job opportunities for me in the future,” she explained.
Shange plans to further her studies in the future. Despite the challenges she has faced, Nomfundo remains committed to her goals and aspirations. Her story serves as an inspiration to others, demonstrating that with hard work, determination, and a passion for one’s field, it is possible to achieve academic success and pursue a fulfilling career.
