Nothing Is Impossible If Goals Are Set Correctly!

When Denisha Govender first started studying at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), her aim was to develop herself as a person. The hard-working 25-year-old cannot believe she has grown so much personally as well as academically, graduating with her National Diploma in Office Management and Technology, obtaining Cum Laude and the Dean’s Merit Award for her diligent work ethics.

“I was so excited and proud of my achievement, I didn’t expect the Deans Merit award, it was a huge surprise,” she said excitedly. Her journey of success began when she was recruited by DUT to work during the registration period. She then worked on a contractual basis at the Faculty of Engineering. After a period of two years, she began her studies towards a National Diploma in Office Management and Technology. During this time-frame between her studies, Govender became a permanent staff member at DUT, accepting the position of faculty administrator at the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment. “I am now studying towards my BTech in Office Management and Technology and now employed at DUT for six years. In the six years, I have learnt a lot about myself and have developed myself . Although, I still have a lot of knowledge to gain and goals to achieve,” she added.
Govender stressed that going forward in her career, she would like to I would like to become a successful lecturer. “Lecturing students has always been my passion as I am an outspoken person, who takes pride in everything I do,” she said.

However, she said her journey would not have been possible without her family and friends who have encouraged and motivated her every step of the way.
Govender said nothing is impossible if one sets their goals right the first time round. “Office Management and Technology has thought me a lot that I never knew. Working in an office environment has never been easier after doing this course, I have gained more knowledge to use at the office in making me more efficient and effective,” she said.
