PGA Executive Committee Inaugurated AT DUT

The Durban University of Technology Post-Graduate Association (PGA) inaugurated its 2017 Executive Committee, members.

The inauguration ceremony took place today (Wednesday, 03 May 2017) at the Research Office’s boardroom, Steve Biko Campus. The association consists of 15 executive members, within those members, there are faculty representatives for each faculty.

Introducing new members and welcoming returning executive members, PGA President Kunle Oparinde, said it was essential for each member of the PGA executive to understand their role. “Students of DUT have voted you into these positions; therefore it is your responsibility not to let them down. You must serve all PGA students interests and make sure they are well represented,” he said.

DUT’s PGA is a representative body for DUT post-graduate students. The PGA Committee aims to promote and enhance the interests of postgraduate students through interacting with student bodies internally and externally in building relations with the University Administration and academic staff to make their postgraduate experience the best it can be.

IREC Director at DUT, Professor Jamila Adam urged the PGA executive committee members to be committed and engage with post-graduate students in the University. “Your role is to ensure that post-graduate students have an engaging and vibrant experience within DUT. You must always be aware of any challenges that new and existing post-graduate students face in settling into the DUT community,” she said.

Prof Adam also reminded PGA executive committee members that they were to lead by example and graduate for their registered post-graduate studies.
