MEDIA INVITE BY DR RENE SMITH, ACTING EXECUTIVE DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF ARTS & DESIGN, AT THE DURBAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

The Durban University of Technology’s Faculty of Arts and Design, invites members of the media to the second Annual DUT Arts & Design Digital Festival.

The theme for this year’s festival is: “My Story/Your Story/Our Story. The three day spectacular festival will officially be opened on Thursday, 10 September 2015 (for invited guests) and continue till Saturday, 12 September 2015. Both Friday and Saturday are open to members of the public. All activities will take place at DUT’s City Campus.

On its second year, the festival is guaranteed to be a feast of arts for enthusiasts, fashionistas, writers and lovers of digital lifestyle. The programme (DigiFest) includes a fashion show, interactive instillation’s, digital performance art, animated videos, dance extravaganza, to name but a few.

This year the festival is open to high school groups. On Thursday, the High School groups get a chance to view works and artefacts by students and staff members of the faculty, as well as get career guidance in the visual and performing arts, education, languages and journalism sectors.

The following academic programmes will participate in the Arts & Design Digital Festival: Drama, Fashion & Textiles, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Jewellery Design, Journalism, Photography, and Video Technology.

Thursday, 10 September 2015: Opening Ceremony

Time: 17h00 (Open Night for invited guests only)
Place: Arthur Smith Hall, City Campus
The opening Ceremony to be addressed by DUT Vice Chancellor and Principal, Professor Ahmed Bawa and philanthropist, NaddRama Pillay.

Friday & Saturday, 11-12 September 2015: Day 1&2 of the DigiFest

Time: 9am till 21h00
Place: DUT City Campus, Corner of Dr Pixley Ka Seme (formerly known as West Street) and Julius Nyerere (formerly known as Warwick Avenue).
Entrance is Free
