Media Invite by the Durban University of Technology

MEDIA INVITE BY THE DURBAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

The Durban University of Technology invites members of the media to a public talk by Dr Imtiaz Sooliman at 16h00 on Friday, 31 July, at the University’s Hotel School Conference room.

The Lecture will be about Leadership in Global Humanitarian Crises, by Dr Sooliman, forms part of the Leadership Programme. The founder of Gift of the Givers Foundation, a South African Non-governmental organisation will be speaking to students of the Innovative Leadership Programme.

The University’s International Centre Non-Violence (ICON) hosts the leadership programme. ICON’s involvement to the project is to develop ways of thinking of young people around the meaning of nonviolence in the new context of Africa today. Meanwhile Gift of the Givers has become the largest disaster relief group of African origin, it has sent rescue teams and aid materials to countries such Somalia, Haiti etc. to name but a few. Dr Sooliman, an honorary doctorate graduate of DUT, through his work has received global recognition for the work done by Gift of the Givers from countries such as Sri Lank to Darfur, from Niger to Nepal.
