Ten DUT Maritime Studies students to board the ship SA Agulhas to Cape Town on Sunday 17 October at Port of Durban

Ten Maritime Studies students from Durban University of Technology (DUT) will board the ship “SA Agulhas” to Cape Town on 17 October. The students will depart from N Shed (Passenger Terminal at the end of the T Jetty). This is a women only operated vessel that will dock at the Port of Durban.

SMIT AMANDLA MARINE have offered to sponsor the trip from Durban to Cape Town and return flights on 21 October. A breakfast reception meeting will take place on Friday, 15 October 2010. The ship arrives in Durban at 0630 on Friday, 15 October 2010.

The students are in their final semester of study for their ND: Maritime Studies and will be accompanied by Mr Leon Govender, our Senior Lecturer. They will be passengers and given the opportunity to observe the operation of a working ship on a coastal passage. This is a unique opportunity that has not been afforded to students in the past.
