Prof Mthembu Engages the DUT Community on the New Strat Plan

DUT staff were given the opportunity to engage with the Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Thandwa Mthembu on staff input regarding the development of the new Strategic Plan, at the Ritson Campus Hall, on Wednesday, 20 February 2019.

Speaking on the future of DUT, Prof Mthembu spoke on the background, current status and framework of not only DUT, but the global sphere and its direction towards improving on the existing functioning mechanisms of global developments.

Identifying DNA strands as models of a structure suitable for the future, Prof Mthembu isolated key components for DUT to elaborate on further which are that the university is positioning itself around being more people-centred and engaging and maximising innovative and entrepreneurial qualities of students to bridge the overall values of the institution.

“We need to find the right people for the right seats, who are doing the right functions appreciably and focusing on using resources effectively and efficiently,” said Mthembu.

This is all being done as an action plan to increase DUT’s impact and footprint in creating a conducive account in the world as a whole.

Prof Mthembu commenced his engagement sessions in January 2019. These strategic planning engagements also offer the DUT community an opportunity raise questions and add onto to the existing ideas of the new strategic plan of the university.
