PROFESSOR DR MATTHIAS REBHAN LECTURES ON THE EXCITING TOPIC OF NANO-3D-PRINTING AND APPLICATIONS

The Directorate: International Education and Partnerships at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted a Public Lecture entitled: Nano-3D-Printing and Applications with Professor Dr Matthias Rebhan on Wednesday, 26 October 2022 via Microsoft Teams. This lecture forms part of a series of engagements around ENVISION2030 through the lens of internationalisation.

Officially welcoming the attendees and introducing the international guest lecturer at the exciting webinar was International Education Officer: Ms Carol Newman. She relayed that Prof Dr Matthias Rebhan is a Professor of Mathematics, Physics and Nanotechnology in the Department of Engineering and Management at the Hochschule München University of Applied Science (HM) in Germany. Prof Rebhan firstly spoke on 3D-printing, methods, technology, applications, physics and technology, processes, material examples and applications.

Prof Dr Rehban then delved into nano-3D-printing and provided examples of the spectrum of applications of nano 3D printing e.g. micromechanics, micro-optics, medicine, interference grating, encoding with holograms, senor on rough surfaces, improving STED microscopy etc. He also provided examples of nano-3D-printing for consumer applications.

Biography

Professor Dr Rebhan was an invited lecturer on Nanotechnology and Sensors at UN Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina in 2016 and also at Fiesa 2018 on “The contribution of international and English taught programmes to internationalisation objectives“. He has also been in charge of the internationalisation and student exchange programmes in his department since 2009.
