RadioDUT Station Manager and Public Relations Alumnus, Sibusiso “JSbu” Nxumalo will be releasing his fourth single titled: Abazali on Friday, 23 October 2020.
Nxumalo who is also a radio presenter on the afternoon show “Drive” on one of KwaZulu-Natal’s biggest commercial radio stations, East Coast Radio is a man of many talents, as he is also a musician, MC and a DJ that specialises in Afro House, Afro Pop and Afro Tech.
Speaking about his music journey, JSbu said it started about four years ago when he had an opportunity to work in the studio with talented musicians such as Holly Ray and Colours of Sound.
“My passion for making music began when I had the opportunity of working with a couple of musicians such as Colours of Sound, Holly Ray after watching them make magic in the studio. The hit song Deeper was made when I was in the studio and that inspired me a lot. I realised that it is possible, just take your ideas and whatever sound you have in your head, you put them together to make a song that sounds good. I am still learning but I believe as part of my learning process I have to let people know where I am in terms of music,” said Nxumalo.
He added that being in the radio industry has also helped to shape his music career since he has been exposed to different sounds and different types of music.
In 2019 he released his debut single titled Uthando Lwakho which featured former Idols contestant Sanele Mkhize and Colours of Sound. In the same year he released his second single titled Lethokuhle which featured upcoming Johannesburg artist, Nonji. He kicked off 2020 with his third single-Energy where he featured upcoming Durban artist, Yashna.
Unpacking his new single-Abazali, JSbu said he featured former Idols contestant and East Coast Radio presenter, Minnie Ntuli and an aspiring artist named Vuyani.
“This single is by far the best single I have made. The concept of the song is someone loving you so much, so purely, so perfectly in your eyes that you just want to go and introduce them to your parents. Take it to the next step and get married. You feel this person is for you for the rest of your life. You want to spend the rest of your life with. It is a very beautiful song. I have worked with very talented people. We worked really hard on making sure that everything fits well,” said Nxumalo.
Furthermore, he revealed that he is currently shooting Abazali’s music video which he hopes to release before dropping the actual song on 23 October 2020.
He has also been receiving positive feedback from his fans on social media, who want him to drop the song immediately.
He said he wants to pace himself with this song to ensure he does not repeat the same mistakes from his previous releases.
Nxumalo joined DUT as a student in 2009 and completed his BTech in Public Relations Management in 2013.
Being rejected at various radio stations led him to start RadioDUT to get a platform to showcase his talent. He is proud of this station that has produced radio presenters working at some of the commercial and national radio stations in the country.
East Coast Radio scouted him while still at RadioDUT making Nxumalo grateful to have been part of the DUT Community, stating everything he learnt at DUT, he managed to apply in real life.
He recently opened JSbu Entertainment, so he can continue playing his role in giving aspiring artists opportunities to shine.
