Ramsukh’s Goal Is To Be The Future Leader In Marketing

Despite facing challenges of adapting to the first year of University, Akhil Ramsukh overcame these hurdles through self – discipline and hard work.

The 22 – year – old goal driven Ramsukh has graduated Cum laude with a Deans Merit Award for his Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Marketing. He graduated at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) this afternoon (Saturday, 11 May 2019) during the Faculty of Management Sciences last graduation session , at the Fred Crookes Sports Centre, Steve Biko Campus.

Based on his achievements, he feels a great form of accomplishment. “I am motivated to work harder and achieve greater things as this achievement provides a significant investment within my academic and working career,” he said.

He added that his desire to study Marketing derived from many sources and personal experiences. He discovered an interest for business and marketing while still at school and studying towards a marketing qualification seemed like the clear career choice for him.

What also drove him to achieve was reassuring himself that by studying he is making a worthy investment within his career. Learning aspects that he can implement not only within the working environment but in everyday life.

Also, having two elder brothers, both working in the corporate industry has been a great source of inspiration as they both act as his mentors and contribute greatly to his success and achievements.

Currently, Ramsukh is working as a business development intern with the Tsebo Solutions Group in Johannesburg. “I am currently being trained for a development manager role within the organisation, where my core duty will be to bring in new business as well as maintain strong client relationships with existing clients,” he said.

He added that his academic journey is not yet over and he is considering furthering his studies and DUT will definitely be on his shortlist of possible universities.

His main aim for the future is to also be a leader within the field of marketing and potentially run a marketing company of his own someday. “In order to meet this goal, I plan to equip myself with the necessary skills needed by furthering my studies,” he said.
