Reshmee’s Juggling Act Earns her Cum Laude

Despite juggling a demanding job, lectures and a family, Reshmee Moonsamy, DUT BTech in Management student, emerged triumphant, graduating cum laude yesterday, 02 September 2015.

Moonsamy, a wife, mother of two and Quality Control Manager, also received the Dean’s Merit Award for academic excellence during the University’s Spring Graduation ceremonies which took place at the University’s Fred Crookes Sports Centre, Steve Biko Campus.

“My challenges were juggling a demanding job and seeing to my family, all whilst attending lectures and studying. I have two sons; one is eight and the other is five years old. However, I made it through with dedication and the support of my family. Without a doubt, my husband deserves some credit; he really supported me during my studies with the kids and things around the house. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without his support,” said Moonsamy.

Speaking about her inspirations, Moonsamy said she always finds inspiration from herself and she believes that if you have faith in yourself, no one will stand in your way. “You have to just believe that you can do it and you will. Know who you are and don’t let anyone persuade you otherwise. It doesn’t necessarily matter whether you come from a rich family or not. What’s important is what you want. My parents are ‘regular’ people who believed that education is key,” she said.
