Rippon primary and Strelitzia Secondary school scoop the Jerusalem dance competition

“It is such an astonishing achievement and feeling for the Rippon Primary School because of not only the prize but also that learners were given exposure to showcase their talent,” says the excited Mr Mfundo Ngcobo, one of the teachers from the school.

The Durban University of Technology (DUT)’s 2020 Jerusalem Dance Competition was the light, after the COVID-19 storm. All the COVID-19 rules and regulations were adhered to during the competition, and was part of the competition rules to follow.

Ngcobo says the school as a whole is super proud of such an achievement and there was no professional choreographer hired. “I solely choreographed and directed the video. It took us two weeks to prepare, we had to buy different outfits, check up on locations to shoot the video and to organise everything altogether,” he said.

27 Schools participated in the competition.

Rippon Primary School topped all the schools by clinching first position and taking home a R10 000 voucher.
