SIBELA IS GRATEFUL TO HIS ELDER SISTER WHO SACRIFICED HER STUDIES TO MAKE HIS DREAMS COME TRUE

SIBELA IS GRATEFUL TO HIS ELDER SISTER WHO SACRIFICED HER STUDIES TO MAKE HIS DREAMS COME TRUE

For many a career in Taxation may seem a laborious vocation but for Xolani Ndumiso Sibela it is a career choice he grew fervent about since high school.

Having finished his matric at Luthayi High School in 2018 in Hammarsdale, coming from a family of eight and losing his mother and the tender age of nine-years did not dissuade him from being a goal-oriented person and focusing on becoming a well-educated individual.

The dedicated Sibela graduated for his National Diploma in Taxation with Cum Laude at the DUT Celebratory Autumn Graduation Celebration which took place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre, (ICC), on Thursday, 14 July 2022.

When his family heard the news they were elated with his results, especially his elder sister who grew him up, she cried when she heard the good news as he is the second child under her guidance to graduate since their mother had passed away.

“When we were still young she had to drop out of University and look for work so she could take care of me and my other siblings. I will always thank, appreciate and love her for that,” he said emotionally.

Sibela is extremely grateful and proud of himself for obtaining Cum Laude with his studies and never thought he will obtain one as he confessed that he was an average student in high school.

“I now do believe that working hard and sleepless night really pays off at the end,” he beamed.

Sibela made mention the start of his ‘love affair’ with learning about finance investments, income statements and balance sheets.

“I have always been passionate about Accounting since I started Grade 10 and 11 where I was inspired by my teacher Miss Fikile Ndlovu from Luthayi High School. She made me understand and love Accounting and always ensured that she had all the materials we needed. She would go over Grade 12 past papers and come up with various methods to solve the transactions which I still remember and use to date,” he added.

Sabelo envisions him studying further until he can reach the point where he can have his own Accounting firm.

“In that way I will create more employment opportunities for the youth who will also like to embark in the same career choice,” he said.
