“I feel very proud to have graduated today,” said an elated Miss Ronicka Sirputh.

Sirputh, an administrative assistant at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Faculty of Arts and Design, City Campus, graduated with her Diploma in Human Resources Management at the DUT Celebratory Autumn Graduation Celebration ceremony on Tuesday, 19 July 2022.

Being at a University of Technology like DUT, it prioritises the quality of teaching and learning by ensuring its academic staff possesses the highest possible qualification that they can get.

In the course of her academic journey, she experienced some predicaments which were medically related, hence she never succumbed to them, persevered and managed to push ahead and obtain her qualification.

Sirputh is a cancer survivor and is a huge inspiration to the DUT community.

“It’s possible not just to survive but to thrive and live a healthy, wonderful life again,” she said.

She has been working at DUT for a period of 12 years she is based at the Faculty office, Faculty of Arts and Design, working closely with the Dean.

In terms of her academic plans, she is currently taking a medical break due to health reasons but does plan to further her studies in time.
