The Student Representative Council (SRC) Organisation and Accommodation Officer: Durban at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), Mhleli Zuma plans to promote collaboration among diverse student groups, implement efficient organisational processes and address accommodation needs effectively.
He says the distinctiveness of the current SRC lies in its commitment to fostering a strong relationship within the DUT community and leading with order and stability.
The 25-year-old Pietermaritzburg born, is currently enrolled for his Honours Degree specialising in Information and Communication Technology.
He serves as the link between the SRC and all organisations within the DUT community.
“I serve as the liaison between SRC and various organisations, overseeing approvals, budgets and managing student housing affairs,” he commented.
Zuma says that throughout his university journey, he has navigated academia with determination, engaging in meaningful research and actively participating in campus life.
“This has deepened my understanding of political dynamics and equipped me for a fulfilling career,” he explained. He also added that his interest in politics began during his high school era.
Zuma concluded that in his unique role he manages student accommodations and coordinates activities within the student organisation, addressing specific needs related to students living and organisational dynamics on campus.
Going forward, his academic aspiration includes pursuing a Doctoral degree.
